Lately, I’ve been trying to figure out my next best step, and I haven’t been getting an answer. The answer arrived last night in a very clear way (thank you to the amazing Carolyn Jones), and I wanted to share it with all of you. Here it is…get ready…
There is absolutely nothing that I need to do. I don’t need to figure out that next right step. I don’t have to worry whether I am making the wrong choice, or no choice at all. I don’t have to worry at all, in fact. Because no matter what I do, the path or the journey never changes. And in that alternate reality for which there are no words, there is no path or journey, either. Everything simply…is. Simply is amazing, wonderful, and already a part of us. We don’t have to strive to become something else because we already are.
And this message goes for all of us. We don’t have to find something external in order to make ourselves whole, or better, or different. Our divine essence, our inner child, our higher self, Great Spirit, God essence, the Universe, light, energy, love, whatever you choose to call it, is already there in each one of us. And we only have to tune in to that deeper knowing in order to remember that there is absolutely nothing that we need to do. Or become. Or strive for. Our only “goal”, if you can call it that, is to simply be. To return, again and again, to what we already are: divine beings of light.
I think I may have lost some of you with that last paragraph, so I’ll try to put some practical tips together to make sense of an impractical concept. How do you really find God in the everyday? How do we remember that we are not just little humans running around doing lots of things, but amazing, creative, powerful forces? We all have those moments when we remember this, sometimes when we’re in nature, or while watching our children sleep, or just when we’re feeling happy with our spouse or family. But how do we hold onto those moments?
These are some tips of mine, some recently found, others cultivated for years, but they can all help you to rediscover (or find) that spark within:
- A daily centering practice. This might be meditation, or scripting, or gratitude journaling, or sentence completion, or intuitive painting. Anything that gives us the time and space to bypass our conscious minds and allow our thoughts to subside, leaving room for the amazingness of our higher selves.
- Surrendering. This one is very hard for me personally, because it’s hard to ask for help. It’s hard to let others know that we need help, even if that help is coming from the universe. But letting go of a problem, concern, or question and really asking for help with the situation is so incredibly powerful. And it works.
- Sending love. (Thanks to beautiful life coach Kim Sumlin for this one!) Like surrendering, this acknowledges that each situation is not entirely in our control, but that we can send love to a person and have it drastically improve, just from that simple step.
I hope that you are able to find time for your inner you today!
